Jobs In Responsibility 

Efficiently obtains patient histories using electronic records, interviews with patients, dictated reports and communication with referring physicians. Complete interpretive reports are prepared.

Interprets and performs diagnostic imaging procedures such as X-Ray, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computer tomography (CT), or ultrasound. Uses picture archiving and communication systems to review and transmit images and information. Communicates diagnostic information and exam results to patients and their families.

Assesses medical information in order to determine risk factors, such as allergies to contrast agents, and to make decisions about the appropriateness of procedures.

Counseling radiologic patients in order to explain the process, risks, benefits and other treatments.

Discuss image-based diagnosis with your doctor.

Coordinate radiological services and other medical activities. Documents the performance, interpretation and results of procedures. Establishes and enforces standards to protect patients and staff.

Monitors and develops procedures to ensure that images are quality controlled.

Radiopaque substances are administered orally and by injection. Enemas are used to make internal structures and organs visible in x-ray films. Recognizes and treats complications, including bleeding, blood pressure, pain, and over-sedation. Radiation from radiographs (xrays), high energy sources and natural and synthesized radioisotopes is used to treat malignant internal or external growths.

Participates in continuing education activities that help to keep and develop expertise.

Participates in quality improvement activities, including discussion of areas that are high-risk of error.

Infection control, drugs, resuscitation and emergencies are all areas that should be addressed.
